MADISON, Wis. - The first round of the 2010 men's Western Collegiate Hockey Association playoffs, five best-of-three series scheduled for Friday, March 12, Saturday, March 13 and Sunday, March 14 (if necessary), are now set.

WCHA regular season and MacNaughton Cup champion and No. 1 seed Denver (25-7-4) will host No. 10 seed Michigan Tech (5-28-1) at Magness Arena, No. 2 seed Wisconsin (22-8-4) will host No. 9 seed Alaska Anchorage (11-21-1) at the Kohl Center, No. 3 seed St. Cloud State (20-11-5) will entertain No. 8 seed Minnesota State (15-18-3) at the National Hockey Center, No. 4 seed North Dakota (20-11-5) will host No. 7 seed Minnesota (16-17-2) at Ralph Engelstad Arena, and No. 5 seed Minnesota Duluth (20-15-1) will entertain No. 6 seed Colorado College (18-15-3) at the Duluth Entertainment & Convention Center.

On Saturday night in WCHA play, Denver won 7-3 at Colorado College to claim the Gold Pan Trophy, St. Cloud State played to a 2-2 (ot) tie with visiting Minnesota State, North Dakota completed a sweep of Michigan Tech with a 3-2 victory and Minnesota Duluth earned a weekend split at Alaska Anchorage with a 6-3 triumph.

The 2009-10 regular season concludes on Sunday (March 7) when Minnesota hosts Wisconsin at 1:07 pm CT at Mariucci Arena.

Following the first round of WCHA playoffs, the five winning teams will be re-seeded No. 1 thru No. 5 according to their regular season finish and advance to the 2010 Red BaronTM WCHA Final Five, set for Thursday, March 18 through Saturday, March 20 at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn. On Thursday, No. 5 will play No. 4 at 7:07 pm CT. On Friday, there will be two semi-final matchups at 2:07 pm and 7:07 pm CT. On Saturday, the third place game will be at 2:07 pm and the Broadmoor Trophy championship game at 7:07 pm CT.
