Mankato, Minn. --- Ninth-rated Minnesota State got a pair of goals from junior forward Brad McClure en route to a 4-2 home win over Ferris State 4-2 Friday.

Ferris State jumped out to an early lead when Craig Pefley scored an unassisted goal at 19:39 on a play where his pass went in off a Maverick defender. The Mavericks evened the score at the 5:07 mark when junior winger Brad McClure on a play where he took a pass from defenseman Alec Vanko and slid the puck past Darren Smith low on the stickside on a shot from the high slot. Senior centerman Jordan Nelson broke the tie at 18:22 after capitalizing on a rebound chance for his second goal of the year. The goal extends Nelson's point-scoring streak to five games (2-4--6).

A power play goal by freshman defenseman Ian Scheid (his third goal of the season) gave the Mavericks a two-goal cushion at 10:18 of the second period. It became a three-goal lead when freshman defensemen Michael Bigelbach hit McClure with a stretch pass and the Stratford, Ont., native made no mistake in tallying his second goal of the game and third of the season at the 13:04 mark. The assist for Bigelbach is first career point. Bulldog junior winger Mitch Maloney got a power play goal at 17:55 to round out scoring in the game with the two teams playing through a scoreless third period.

Maverick goaltender Cole Huggins recorded 24 saves in the contest in improving his record to 6-0-0 on the season. Minnesota State (6-1-0, 4-1-0-0 WCHA) was successful on one of its eight power play chances, while Ferris State (0-7-1, 0-4-1-1 WCHA) was one-of-seven with the man advantage.

Besides the two goals, McClure was +3 and had a team-high five shots on goal. Scheid's goal is his first career game-winning goal.
