ANCHORAGE, ALASKA - Tanner Schachle scored his first career goal but it wasn't enough as Ferris State defeated Alaska Anchorage 2-1 Friday.

Frankie Melton found Cooper Zech who fired a wrist shot from the right face-off circle for the Bulldogs first goal at 15:09 of the first period.

After a scoreless second period, Malcolm Hayes sent a long pass to Schachle who scored with a low wrist shot at 3:36 of the second period. Carmine Buono also assisted on the goal.

Hunter Wendt sent a pass to Coale Norris who fired a one-timer past Kristian Stead for the game-winner at 12:44 of the third period.

Stead finished with 16 saves.

UAA (0-2) and FSU (0-3) each finished scoreless on the powerplay, but UAA led 22-18 in shots.

The two teams will close out the weekend series Saturday.
