SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. -- The Lake Superior State hockey team faced Alaska in the second game of the weekend series on Saturday night, with the Lakers falling to the Nanooks by a 4-3 final.

Lake State (5-2-1, 2-1-1-0) scored three goals in the second period, all on the power play, before Alaska (1-7-2, 1-2-1-1) retaliated with four in a row to complete the comeback.

After a scoreless first period, the teams were tied in shots with six apiece.

Lake State got the scoring started with a power play goal 13:28 into the second period. Anthony Nellis scored his sixth goal of the season from Lukas Kaelble and Brayden Gelsinger.

Collin Saccoman found the back of the net for his second goal of the weekend and fifth of the season at the 15:46 mark to extend the lead to 2-0. Assists on the goal, scored on the power play, came from Jacob Nordqvist and Owen Guy, who tallied his first point as a Laker.

Diego Cuglietta notched the Lakers' third goal on a man advantage with just over a minute remaining in the second frame. Kaelble picked up an assist for his second point of the night, and Max Humitz tallied the other helper.

Alaska got on the board with under a minute to go in the frame, when Colton Leiter found the back of the net on a power play opportunity. The Lakers finished the period up 3-1, and outshot Alaska in the frame 11-8.

The Nanooks extended the lead 1:12 into the third period off an even strength goal from Steven Jandric. Jandric then notched his second of the game on a power play at the 10:55 mark.

Chris Jandric scored the game winner for Alaska on a man advantage with 1:13 left in the game.

Mareks Mitens made 19 saves on 23 shots faced and Gustavs Grigals saved 19 of 22.

LSSU finished the game 3 for 7 on the power play, while Alaska was 3 for 6.

The Lakers continue action next weekend on the road against Bowling Green and return home Nov. 23-24 at 7 p.m. against Northern Michigan. Tickets may be purchased at the Norris Center Ticket Office or at lssulakers.com/tickets.
