BEMIDJI, Minn. (Sanford Center) -- Zach Driscoll turned aside 18 shots and Jay Dickman scored the game-wining goal to lead the Bemidji State University men's hockey team to a 3-0 victory over Michigan Tech Saturday to cap Hockey Day Minnesota 2019 by completing a Western Collegiate Hockey Association sweep.
Special teams, goaltending, team defense and scoring spread across six different players, the Beavers managed a win in all aspects of play for its most complete victory of 2018-19.
Adam Brady and Brendan Harris led BSU in scoring with a goal an an assist apiece, while Ethan Somoza dded a pair of helpers and Dick posted the game-winner.
BSU allowed just 18 shots, including only five in each of the final two periods, and in front of Driscoll, BSU blocked 11 shots.
Bemidji State also won the special teams battle converting one of its two power-play opportunities, while keeping MTU off the scoreboard on its only man advantage of the game.
Driscoll is 3-1-0 in his last four starts with a pair of shutouts. He improves to 7-6-1 on the season.
Bemidji State improves to 12-11-3 overall and 10-7-1-1 in league play to hold down sixth place in the standings--just one point behind MTU and Lake Superior State University for fourth place and home ice in the first round of the WCHA Playoffs.
