ANCHORAGE, ALASKA - Alex Frye scored twice to lead Alaska Anchorage to a 2-2 tie with No. 13 Bemidji State Saturday. The Beavers earned the extra point with a goal in the 3-on-3 overtime.
BSU got on the board at 6:37 of the first period with a power-play goal by Charlie Comb.
The Seawolves penalty kill unit was put to the test in the second period after a five-minute major and then two minor penalties. UAA was up to the challenge killing off a 5-on-3 advantage for over two minutes.
UAA threw the puck on net and after several pokes, Alex Frye finally jabbed the puck over the goal line with 31 seconds remaining in the second period. Taylor Lantz assisted on the goal.
Frye scored his second goal of the night by tipping a shot by Luc Brown. Rylee St. Onge assisted on the power-play goal at 2:57 of the third period.
The Seawolves would hold a man-advantage for the final five minutes of the game after a five-minute checking from behind penalty by the Beavers, but Alex Ierullo tied the game 2-2 with a short-handed goal at 17:11.
After a scoreless five-minute overtime, Tommy Muck scored at 2:20 of the 3-on-3 overtime to give the Beavers the extra point.
UAA finished with a 37-31 edge in shots and both teams finished 1-for-5 on the man-advantage.
Brandon Perrone finished with 28 saves for UAA.
Alaska Anchorage will close out the regular season at Alaska Fairbanks in the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup Feb. 28-29.
