Box Score

WINNIPEG, Manitoba --- In the final game of the inaugural Bison Hockey Holiday Classic at Max Bell Centre, the Manitoba Bisons lose 4-2 Friday, December 31 in women's hockey.

With the loss, the Bisons finish the tournament with a record of 0-3. They also lost on Wednesday to McGill and then again on Thursday to Team Manitoba.

Allison Parizek, who had a goal in UND's win over Alberta on Thursday, added two more for the Fighting Sioux on Friday.

When the puck dropped, the Fighting Sioux wasted very little time getting on the scoreboard. Allison Parizek scored on the game's first shot just 32 seconds in to give UND a 1-0 lead.

The Bisons came into Friday's contest with zero goals on the tournament. But that all changed at the 14:32 mark of the first period when Addie Miles took a shot from the point and beat Fighting Sioux goaltender, Jorid Dagfinrud on the high glove side. The powerplay goal made the score 1-1, a score that lasted to the end of the period.

The second period started out quietly as no team was able to get one past the keeper until past the midway mark. The Sioux's Mary Loken came in on a two-on-one rush with teammate, Francie Piche and fired one past Manitoba goaltender, Tara Lacquette. Loken's tally was the lone goal in the second period.

The Fighting Sioux were able to hang on to their lead in the third period but not without a bit of a scare. After a goal by UND's Kelsey Ketcher, the Bisons struck with a goal by Maggie Litchfield-Medd with just over three minutes to go. The Bisons made a valiant effort to tie the game in the late stages of the period but their hopes were dashed when Parizek buried one into the empty net for her second of the game.

With the win, UND joins McGill and Team Manitoba as the only undefeated teams in the tournament. No tournament all-stars will be selected.
