Mankato, Minn. --- Minnesota State dropped a nonconference contest at home to Robert Morris Friday night, 2-1.
Following a scoreless first period that saw MSU outshoot the RBU 10-9, freshman forward Kathleen Rogan found the back of the net for the Mavericks at the 6:28 mark. Rogan converted on a one-timer that deflected off of RBU goaltender Kristen Diciocco's pad, and crossed the goal line. Sophomore forward Lauren Smith and sophomore defenseman Erika Magnusson both tallied helpers on the goal.
RBU tied the game moments later, at the 10:19 mark, as Sara O'Malley beat MSU goalie Alli Altmann glove side. O'Mally took advantage of an MSU turnover deep in MSU's zone for the score. The goal was set up by an assist from Brianna Delaney.
RBU continued to ride the momentum early in the third frame as Delaney batted the puck out of the air to beat Altmann stick side for the game-winning goal.
MSU outshot the Colonials 20-19 while converting on 0-2 power play opportunities.
Altmann recorded 17 saves while Kristen Diciocoo tallied 19 stops on the night.
The two squads will conclude the weekend series tomorrow at 3:07 at the All Seasons Arena.
