Hokey Langan had a goal and an assist for the Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The 10th-ranked Ohio State women's hockey team wrapped up preseason preparations with a 2-0 win against Wilfrid Laurier Saturday at the OSU Ice Rink. Rookie goaltender Lisa Steffes stopped all 25 shots faced, while sophomore forward Hokey Langan (1g, 1a) and junior defenseman Kelly Wild (2a) had two points apiece.

The Buckeyes will open their 2010-11 season with a non-conference road series Oct. 8-9 at Robert Morris. Games will begin at 7 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday at RMU Island Sports Center in Pittsburgh.

Ohio State took advantage of a 5-on-3 power play to get on the board in the first period. Wild sent the puck from along the boards to classmate Laura McIntosh, who passed it the through the crease to Langan. She tapped the puck in from the left post for the goal at 12:25.

After a scoreless second period, sophomore Tina Hollowell put the Buckeyes up 2-0 when she jumped on a breakaway through the neutral zone and carried it all the way to the net to score top-shelf 3:19 into the third. She was assisted by Langan and Wild.

Overall, Ohio State had a 37-25 lead in shots, including an 18-3 advantage in the first period. The Buckeyes were 1-of-5 on the power play and a perfect 4-of-4 on the penalty kill.
