The St. Cloud State University women's hockey team (1-10-1, 0-8-0 WCHA) suffered a tough 5-1 loss to North Dakota (7-4-1, 4-3-1 WCHA) on Saturday, Nov. 5, at the National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn.
North Dakota hit first in the contest with a power play goal by Jocelyne Lamoureux at :55. North Dakota pushed its lead to 2-0 with a goal by Monique Weber at 2:02 of the first period.
In the second period, UND added its third goal at :41 with a marker by Candace Molle and it complete the second period with another goal at 5:52 by Allison Parizek.
The Huskies broke the shutout with a power play goal by sophomore forward Molli Mott (Colorado Springs, Colo.) at 7:47 of the third period. Assists on the play by Mott were provided by freshman forward Abby Ness (Roseau) and senior forward Brittany Toor (Hartland, Mich.).
This was Mott's fourth goal of the season, while Ness and Torr both have five assists apiece this season to lead the Huskies. Of note, Mott also leads the squad in goals in 2011-12.
UND finished the game with a power play goal at 18:45 of the third with a goal by Mary Loken.
In the contest, UND outshot the Huskies 32-20. Senior Tayler VanDenakker (Winnipeg, Manitoba) was the goalie of record for SCSU with 27 saves. Jorid Dagfinrud was the winning goalie for UND with 19 saves.
The Huskies will return to action on Nov. 18-19 with a pair of games at Niagara University.
