Senior Noora Raty made 19 saves for the Gophers

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The St. Cloud State University women's hockey team finished their WCHA regular season hosting #1 Minnesota. The Gophers swept the Huskies with a 3-0 win Saturday.

The Huskies kicked off their final regular season game recognizing their eight seniors in Katie Allen, Haylea Schmid, Kylie Lane, Lisa Martinson, Alex Nelson, Callie Dahl, Ellie Sitek, and Anna Donlan.

With the first period scoreless for both teams again in game two the Huskies held the Gophers to three shutout periods of the six in this final regular season series.

Minnesota took a 1-0 lead just over midway in the second period at the 11:37 mark with a goal by Hannah Brandt, the number one star of the game. She was assisted by Lee Stecklein and Baylee Gillanders on the goal.

The Gophers were able to score two more goals in the third period at which one of them was a power-play goal. Minnesota's second goal was at the 4:10 mark with Becky Kortum finding the net off of assists from Sarah Davis and Rachel Ramsey. The third and final goal of the game was at the 8:08 mark on the power-play by Milica McMillen.

The Huskies held the Gophers to one power-play goal out of their eight opportunities.

Senior goalie Anna Donlan started in the net for the Huskies and then was releaved by Julie Friend, the third star of the game who recorded 39 saves. Minnesota's Noora Raty posted 19 saves for the win to complete the Gophers undefeated season.

St. Cloud State (9-22-3, 5-21-2-1 WCHA) will return to action on March 1-3 as they kick-off the WCHA First Round of Playoffs. The Huskies will find out later tonight whether they will be traveling to Grand Forks, N.D. to take on the University of North Dakota or to Madison, Wis. to go head-to-head with the Wisconsin Badgers.
