Columbus, Ohio - The Ohio State women's hockey team fell 2-1 in overtime against the Toronto Junior Aeros Saturday in an exhibition game at the OSU Ice Rink.
Ohio State controlled much of the action throughout the game, outshooting the Aeros 26-12 and winning 32 face-offs to the Aeros' 21. Redshirt senior goaltender Chelsea Knapp finished the game with 10 saves for the Buckeyes.
Following two scoreless periods, Aeros' forward Cora Constantinou broke the tie when she got a breakaway goal at the 4:30 mark of the third period.
The Scarlet and Gray responded with a third period goal of their own to make it 1-1 as defenseman Kari Schmitt scored in the 16th minute on an assist from Annie Svedin.
The game-winner came 2:25 into overtime off the stick of Jessie Eldridge after picking up the rebound off of a shot by Kaitlin Tse.
Toronto killed all seven of the Buckeyes power play opportunities while OSU held the Aeros scoreless on their two power play chances.
The Buckeyes hit the road next week to start the regular season with a game in Erie, PA., against No. 7/8 Mercyhurst.
