COLUMBUS, Ohio - Fueled by a nine-point effort from its fourth line, the Ohio State women's hockey team completed a series sweep of Minnesota State with a 6-0 win Saturday afternoon at the OSU Ice Rink in Columbus, Ohio. The line comprised of Brianna Neuwald, Maggie Rothgery and Katie Matheny contributed four goals and five assists for the Buckeyes.

Ohio State concluded the first period with back-to-back goals from Rothgery and Kendall Curtis. Rothgery, a junior from Elyria, Ohio, snuck in a strike over the left shoulder of MSU goalie Erin Krichiver at 14:33. She was assisted on the play by teammates Neuwald and Dani Sadek. Curtis followed it up less than a minute later, finding the back of the net off a feed from Alexa Ranahan at 15:04. Heading into the locker room with a 2-0 lead, the Buckeyes also outshot the Mavericks 11-5 for the period, with starting goalie Kassidy Sauve registering five stops.

The second stanza was also a high scoring affair for the Scarlet and Gray, as Matheny earned two goals and veteran Taylor Kuehl added another. On a power play 18 seconds into the period, Kuehl put the Buckeyes up 3-0 on a goal assisted by Neuwald and Rothgery. The tandem also earned a helper on the next goal, which was scored by their linemate Matheny. A sophomore from Chesterfield, Mo., Matheny diced in her second goal of the matchup at 11:12. Ohio State again held a prominent advantage in shots taken, 14-2.

In the third period of play, Ohio State sealed the win behind the effort of Rothgery, whose goal at 5:01 gave the Buckeyes a 6-0 lead. Team captain Sara Schmitt and Kuehl contributed on the score, which was Rothgery's second of the game. The Buckeyes posted 13 shots compared to seven from the Mavericks in the final stanza.

For the game, Ohio State outshot Minnesota State by a 38-14 margin. Sauve was credited with 14 saves in the shutout, while Krichiver earned 32 stops in 60 minutes.

The Buckeye penalty kill unit finished the game with a 2-for-2 rating, as the Buckeyes countered with one power-play goal on six opportunities.

Ohio State returns to competition vs. Wisconsin, Feb.. 13-14. The Buckeyes and Badgers will meet in Columbus, with members of Ohio State's senior class recognized following the series finale.
