DURHAM, N.H. - The No. 3 Wisconsin women's hockey team earned its fifth-straight shutout on Saturday, blanking New Hampshire, 5-0, on Saturday at the Whittemore Center.
Sophomore Sydney McKibbon and freshman Annie Pankowski each scored twice in the victory, while sophomore Mikayla Johnson also scored to help Wisconsin (15-2-1) extend its unbeaten streak to 10 games.
Sophomore Ann-Renee Desbiens made 16 saves to earn her sixth shutout of the season. Desbiens and the Badgers have now held their opponents scoreless for the past 330 minutes and 56 seconds. UW has not allowed a goal since the second period of its 8-2 win over Minnesota State on Nov. 13.
McKibbon put the Badgers on the board early in the first, redirecting a Jenny Ryan shot on a Wisconsin power play to give UW a 1-0 advantage.
Two minutes later, Johnson tallied her second goal of the season, shooting a laser from the right of the crease past the UNH goaltender to double the UW lead.
After a scoreless second, Pankowski beat the New Hampshire netminder on a 1-on-1 early in the third period to propel Wisconsin to a 3-0 advantage.
McKibbon added her second goal of the night at the 12:34 mark to give UW a 4-0 lead. McKibbon now has nine goals and 18 points this season, surpassing her freshman year total of 16 points.
Pankowski capitalized on a rebound after Mellissa Channell's shot was saved to tally her second goal of the night and her ninth of the season at the 17:20 mark.
Wisconsin closes out the first half of its schedule next weekend at LaBahn Arena against North Dakota. Faceoff on Friday, Dec. 5 is set for 3 p.m., while the series finale on Sunday, Dec. 7, will begin at 2 p.m.
