BEMIDJI, Minn. - The No. 7 Bemidji State University women's hockey team defeated Ohio State University 6-2, Saturday afternoon to sweep the Buckeyes. Five seniors tallied a point for the Beavers, including Kaitlyn Tougas who tallied three (1g-2a) on a night where the Beavers honored their seniors.

Junior Brittni Mowat earned her 20th win of the season after allowing only two goals on 32 shots and set a new program single-season wins record. Whitney Wivoda joined Mowat in setting new program records for the Beavers as Wivoda played in her 147th career game, besting the previous mark of 146 by Marlee Wheelhouse.

Five Beavers recorded multiple points in the game and behind Tougas, the Beavers were led by Alexis Joyce who scored two goals while Kristin Huber and Wivoda each tallied two assists. Lauren Miller added a goal and an assist to round out the Beavers with multiple points. Sophomore Reilly Fawcett scored the game-winning goal and Stephanie Anderson added her team leading, 10th goal of the season. Madison Hutchinson, Emma Terres, Ivana Bilic, and Bailey Wright each had an assist to round out the Beaver scoring.

Bemidji State got off to a hot start by scoring off of their first two shots of the game just five minutes into the game. Joyce started the scoring at 2:45 and Tougas followed just 1:41 later for the early 2-0 lead. Ohio State responded by scoring with just 3:25 remaining in the opening period when Cara Zubko beat Mowat.

The Beavers responded with another quick goal to open the second period when Anderson fired a shot that beat goaltender Stacy Danczak while the Beavers held a power play advantage. Bemidji State extended its lead to four when Fawcett and Joyce each scored in the remaining time.

Miller added another goal for the Beavers by scoring 6:27 into the final period and Ohio State's Maddy Field made it 6-2 with 1:05 left in the game. Mowat made 30 saves for the Beavers while Danczak stopped 15 shots before being replaced by Alex LaMere who made 13 saves.

Bemdiji State will bring the 2015-16 regular season to an end next weekend and will travel to Minnesota State University, Mankato for a WCHA series. The Beavers can clinch the third seed in the WCHA Playoffs if they defeat the Mavericks on Friday.
