Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's hockey team got an unassisted goal from Lindsey Coleman in battling Lindenwood to a 1-1 tie in a nonconference contest played in Mankato Saturday afternoon.

The Mavericks outshot the Lady Lions by a 12-4 margin in the first period, but could not find a way to put the puck into the net with Jolene deBruyn forced to make several tough stops for Lindenwood.

Then at 15:27 of the second period, immediately following a face-off in the Minnesota State defensive zone, Shannon Morris-Reade deflected a shot from Cierra Paisley past Maverick senior netminder Brianna Quade for a power play goal. Junior forward Lindsey Coleman collected the puck after winning an offensive zone face-off and lifted a shot past deBruyn high on the glove side to bring the Mavericks even with the Lady Lions with 1:05 left in the second period. The goal is Coleman's fifth of the year.

The two teams battled through a scoreless third period and a scoreless overtime period and the shootout went five rounds with Lindenwood prevailing 2-1.

The Mavericks, which finished with a zero-for-four ledger with the man advantage, owned a 33-24 advantage in shots on goal in the game. Lindenwood was successful on one-of-three power play chances.

Minnesota State (3-11-2) resumes Western Collegiate Hockey Association action next weekend with a two-game league series scheduled with Bemidji State in Mankato for Friday and Saturday.
