St. Cloud, Minn.- Ohio State (6-6-1, 2-6-1 WCHA) defeated St. Cloud State (3-7-1, 2-6-1-1 WCHA) on Friday by a score of 3-0, marking the first time it has posted three straight shutouts since Feb. 24-March 2, 2001.

The three goals all came from freshmen tonight: Crystal Sorem, Samantha Bouley, and Jincy Dunne. Sorem's goal came early in the second period after the Buckeyes returned from a penalty kill and it was the first of her career. Bouley's goal came about 12 minutes of game time later and was her third of the season. Dunne capped off the game with an empty-netter, her second goal of the season.

It's been the defense, though, that has served as the key to the Ohio State's three game winning streak. Led by Kassidy Sauve in goal, the Buckeyes have not allowed a goal in 185:35 of game time and have killed 17 straight penalties. The last goal against the Scarlet and Gray came from Minnesota Duluth on Saturday, Oct. 29 at the 15:25 mark of the third period. Today Sauve stopped all 20 shots the Huskies sent her way and the Buckeye penalty kill thwarted both extra man chances that SCSU had.

Maddy Field notched two assists today, helping on the first two goals of the game. It's the second multi-point game of the season for her; the sophomore has five points in her last four games and 10 total on the season, the first Buckeye to reach double digits. Julianna Iafallo and Lauren Boyle also assisted on goals one and two, respectively, and Jessica Dunne added a helper on her sister's goal.

Ohio State blocked 14 shots, with the usual suspects leading the way: Jincy and Jessica Dunne had four and three, respectively, and Dani Sadek added three herself.

Including today's game, it's the second time in program history that Ohio State has recorded three straight shutouts. The last time it happened, the Buckeyes blanked St. Cloud State twice on the road before beating Wayne State 8-0 at home. In fact, those games started a stretch during which OSU went 6-0 and outscored its opponents 30-1.

Ohio State and St. Cloud State will meet again tomorrow, Saturday, at 1:07 E.T. to close out their weekend series.
