COLUMBUS, Ohio. - The No. 5 Ohio State women's ice hockey team tied Bemidji State, 2-2 on Friday evening with the Buckeyes earning an extra league point with the shootout win. With the tie, Ohio State moves to 17-6-5 (10-4-4 WCHA) and the Beavers move to 14-13-3 (8-10-2 WCHA).


Buckeye Bits

- Junior goaltender Lynsey Wallace posted 23 saves for the Buckeyes in her sixth start of the season.

- Jincy Dunne opened scoring with her sixth goal of the season.

- Emma Maltais scored the third period go-ahead goal in her 100th career game. She now has 129 career points, surpassing Olympian Tessa Bonhomme for sixth most points in Buckeye history.

- Ohio State outshot Bemidji, 43-25.


First Period

Ohio State scored the opening goal of game two against Bemidji State in the 18th minute. Jincy Dunne posted her sixth goal of the season as she put away a rebound given up by Beaver netminder Lauren Bench on the initial shot by Sophie Jaques. The Buckeyes outshot the Beavers 13-3 in the period.


Second Period

Bemidji's Clair DeGeorge scored her first goal of the weekend midway through the middle frame to tie the game at 1-all. The Buckeyes put the pressure on the Beavers late in the period with 11 straight shots but Bench posted 13 saves to keep the game tied going into the final 20 minutes. Dunne led the Buckeyes with six shots on goal after two.


Third Period

The game remained tied 1-1 until Emma Maltais scored the go-ahead goal 28 seconds into a Buckeye power play. Her goal in the 15th minute was assisted by Tatum Skaggs. With time winding down, the Beavers pulled Bench and Kiki Radke lit the lamp with 17 seconds left in regulation.


Overtime

Neither team could covert in the first 5-on-5 overtime period so the game was recorded as a 2-2 tie. The game went to a 3-on-3 period but again, the score remained locked. In the shootout, Wallace made two saves and Maltais buried her shot to give the Buckeyes the extra league point.
