BEMIDJI, Minn. - Bemidji State University women's hockey senior Haley Mack score two, game-tying goals to lead the Beavers to a 2-2 tie in the series finale versus Providence College Saturday afternoon. The Beavers are now 1-2-1 in the first two weeks of the season and begin Western Collegiate Hockey Association next weekend when they host University of Minnesota Duluth.

Freshman Reece Hunt assisted on both of Mack's goals for her first collegiate points while junior Mak Langei recorded the lone other assist for the Beavers. In her first start in net, sophomore Lexi Baker made 18-of-20 saves and is now 0-0-1 on the season.

The Friars (2-1-1, 0-0-0 Hockey East) opened the scoring with a goal from Meaghan Rickard at 15:53 of the first period and would head into the first intermission with the 1-0 lead. The Beavers didn't waste time in the second period however, and one minute into the middle frame, Mack buried her first goal of the season from Hunt and Langei. However, the Friars bounced right back and 3:31 later retook the one goal lead off the stick of Lauren DeBlois with a power-play goal.

The Beavers battled in the third period produced eight shots on goal during the final frame and eventually found the equalizing goal at 8:41 once again off the stick of Mack and Hunt. The score would go unchanged after the final buzzer sounded and both teams would play a five-minute overtime period. Providence out-shot the Beavers 4-1 in the extra frame but Baker turned aside all four chances to earn the tie.

Bemidji State ended the game with a 23-20 shot advantage but came up empty on all four of its power-play chances while the Friars scored on one of their four chances.

Bemidji State remains at home next weekend to open WCHA play by hosting Minnesota Duluth at the Sanford Center, October 18-19 at 6:07 and 3:07 p.m.
