St. Cloud State women's hockey fell to Bemidji State in game one of the weekend series by a score of 3 to 0. Game two is set for tomorrow, Feb. 15 at 3:07pm back at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
The Huskies and Beavers started the game with a scoreless first period as the Huskies outshot the Beavers six to five. Junior goaltender Emma Polusny made all five saves for the St. Cloud State in the first.
The Beavers stole the lead in the last three minutes of the second period when Abby Halluska put Bemidji on the scoreboard. The Huskies saw many scoring opportunities as the team put 14 shots on goal in the second period, but struggled to get a puck past Bemidji's goalie Lauren Bench.
Bemidji State found the back of the net again just five and a half minutes into the third period two make it a two-goal lead over the Huskies. The Huskies pulled their goalie with less than three minutes left to play, but the Beavers capitalized again on an empty-net goal.
Total shots were 30 to 26 in favor of Bemidji State. Each team saw two power-play chances apiece, but both went zero for two on attempts. Emma Polusny made a game total of 27 saves for the Huskies.
