ST. CLOUD, Minn. - St. Cloud State Women's Hockey came out fast in game two against Minnesota State. After 4:29 minutes into the game, SCSU's Jenniina Nylund tallied a goal to give the Huskies an early lead. Nylund's first goal of the season was assisted by Hannah Bates. Minnesota State responded quickly with a goal just two minutes later by Tristen Truax. Emma Polusny made 10 saves for the Huskies in the first period.
Minnesota State put 13 more shots on Polusny in the second period, two of which were goals by Anna Wilgren and Mallorie Iozzo. The Huskies put 11 shots on Minnesota State's goaltender Calla Frank, but struggled to tally a goal. After two periods of play, the Huskies trailed 3-1.
In the final period, Minnesota State notched a fourth and final powerplay goal at 7:32 minutes in as the Huskies ran into penalty trouble. The Huskies had many chances including two powerplay opportunities, but still struggled to capitalize. Emma Polusny set a season-high record for 31 saves against the Mavericks. The Huskies and Mavericks had 35 shots on goal apiece, six of which came from Huskies' Hallie Theodosopoulos.
The Huskies hit the road for a conference series in Duluth, Minnesota November 1st and 2nd against the Bulldogs. Friday's game is at 7pm, and Saturday's game is at 4pm.
