Sophomore goalie Andrea Braendli made 22 saves for the Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The No. 5 Ohio State women's ice hockey team blanked the St. Cloud State Huskies Friday evening, 3-0. Liz Schepers, Jincy Dunne and Brooke Bink all tallied goals in the contest while Andrea Braendli recorded her second shutout of the season and eight of her career. With the win, Ohio State improves to 19-8-6 (12-6-5 WCHA) and St. Cloud State slips to 6-22-4 (2-20-1 WCHA).


Buckeye Bits

- Andrea Braendli posted 22 saves in net for the Buckeyes and recorded her second shutout of the season and her eighth of her career.

- Emma Maltais tallied two assists in the win. She now has 52 points on the season which puts her two off the mark of the program's single season point record. She also has 135 career points which puts her in sole possession of fifth best in program history.

- Jincy Dunne scored her seventh goal of the season while Bink notched her fourth career goal. Liz Schepers continues to lead the Buckeyes with 20 season goals.


First Period

Liz Schepers scored the Buckeyes' fastest opening goal of the season as she lit the lamp just 30 seconds into the contest with St. Cloud State. Lisa Bruno took a shot from a low angle and Schepers was in front to tip it past Emma Polusny. Ohio State outshot the Huskies 16-8 in the period with Sophie Jaques led the squad with three shots.


Second Period

Senior captain Jincy Dunne doubled the Ohio State lead midway through the second frame. Paetyn Levis took the puck into the zone and got of the initial shot which was left on the doorstep for a put in by Dunne. With just over four minutes remaining, freshman Brooke Bink fired off a shot that went off the post an in to make it a 3-0 game. She was assisted by Teghan Inglis and Eve Savander for her fourth career goal. Ohio State outshot St. Cloud State 13-10 in the period and each team had a successful penalty kill.


Third Period

The score held at 3-0 through the final frame with the Huskies edging the Buckeyes 4-3 in shots. Polusny posted 29 saves while Braendli finished with 22.
