ST. CLOUD, Minn. - Game two for the St. Cloud State women's hockey team against No. 2 Wisconsin Badgers began at 3:07pm at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. The first three minutes of the game were dominated by the Badgers as they snuck two goals past Huskies' goaltender Emma Polusny. At 16:30 into the first period, senior Hallie Theodosopoulos put the Huskies on the board with a power-play goal. Theodosopoulos was assisted by Olivia Cvar and Rachel Herzog, on her third goal of the weekend. Just thirty seconds later, Wisconsin responded with a third goal to give them a two-goal lead yet again. Emma Polusny stopped 17 shots for the Huskies in the first.
The first fifteen minutes of the second period were scoreless until Daryl Watts gave the Badgers a three-goal lead over the Huskies. Emma Polusny made 9 saves in the second period.
The final period began with sophomore Jenniina Nylund scoring for the Huskies on a two-on-one just twenty-three seconds in to close the gap back to a two-goal lead. Nylund was assisted by freshman Annika Fazokas. The Huskies struggled to come back, but put up 8 shots on goal in the third for a game total of 15. Two late goals by the Badgers gave them the victory over the Huskies 6-2. Emma Polusny had a game total of 33 saves.
The Huskies went 1 for 1 on power-play opportunities and successfully killed off two penalties holding Wisconsin to 0-2 on the power-play.
The Huskies are home again next weekend Nov. 29-30 as they will host Lindenwood University for a pair of non-conference games. Game times are set for 6:07pm and 3:07pm at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
