Ohio State senior Lauren Bernard has been named the Sterling Trophy WCHA Defender of the Week. She helped the Buckeyes clinch the WCHA Julianne Bye Cup this week with a sweep of St. Thomas on Feb. 16-17 in Columbus, Ohio. Bernard tied for the league lead with a +6 on ice and four points last weekend. Bernard tallied her first career shorthanded goal, and the team’s program record tying seventh of the season, in the Buckeyes’ 4-1 win on Saturday and assisted on three of the Buckeyes’ program-record 12 goals against St. Thomas on Friday in a 12-1 victory.
