BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Western Collegiate Hockey Association is excited to present the composite schedule for its eight member institutions in the 2023-24 campaign.

The 2023-24 run includes a total of 159 regular season games, including at least 129 that will be streamed through the league’s Big Ten Network partnership and B1G+ prior to the 2024 Kwik Trip WCHA Final Faceoff. On the year, WCHA teams lace up for 46 nonconference matchups, including notable tournaments such as the 2023 Women’s College Hockey Icebreaker, DI in DC, Battle at the Burgh, and the Smashville Showcase.
Opening weekend on Sept. 23-24 features the leadoff series with Bemidji State traveling to Lindenwood, while St. Cloud State hosts ECAC foe Union. The weekend is also joined by a pair of exhibition matchups for Minnesota and St. Thomas against Durham West.
Get ready to settle in for a full day of WCHA hockey on Friday, Oct. 6 as the league’s teams compete in a seven-game, nonconference lineup across the country. Four WCHA teams host, while Minnesota State, Minnesota, and St. Cloud State all head to the east coast.
The first WCHA matchup is set for Thursday, Oct. 12 as defending National Champion Wisconsin hosts Minnesota State, while the first full weekend of conference play of the league’s eight teams in four matchups follows on Friday, Oct. 13.
After an outstanding, sold-out event at Andover Ice Arena in 2022, the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game returns, this time to Maple Grove. Minnesota State takes on St. Thomas in a nonconference game on Thursday, Nov. 9, with more information on tickets and streaming options to come.
In one of college hockey’s largest events, St. Cloud State is set to compete in the 2023 Women’s College Hockey Icebreaker tournament Oct. 20-21. Hosted by Sacred Heart, the event takes place in SHU’s new arena, while the Huskies are set to face 2023 Frozen Four participant Northeastern.
As the season progresses, a pair of WCHA teams head east for the holiday as St. Thomas and Minnesota compete in the DI in DC tournament with Harvard and Cornell Nov. 24-25. The busy Thanksgiving weekend also includes Ohio State hosting St. Lawrence, Minnesota Duluth hosting Colgate, and Minnesota State dropping the puck on the Smashville Showcase in Nashville Nov. 25-26.
More nonconference action pops up around the New Year, as Bemidji State competes in the Battle at the Burgh Dec. 29-30 with Robert Morris, Colgate, and Maine, before a big weekend of action Jan. 5-6. Notable opponents include UConn, Quinnipiac, Merrimack, and Lindenwood in the out-of-league play for WCHA teams.
WCHA matchups continue throughout the remainder of the regular season beginning Jan. 12-13, including several home-and-home series between the schools. After the presentation of the Julianne Bye Cup to the regular season champions, play continues with the best-of-three WCHA Quarterfinals March 1-3, prior to the 2024 Kwik Trip WCHA Final Faceoff hosted by Ridder Arena on March 8-9.
Following the Final Faceoff, the WCHA looks to again send multiple teams to the NCAA Tournament, beginning with the selection show on Sunday, March 10. The season peaks with the 2024 NCAA Frozen Four March 22-24, hosted by New Hampshire at in Durham, N.H.
