WCHA Recap - Oct. 4

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - Seven Western Collegiate Hockey Association teams recorded wins in Friday night's action.

Three teams picked up wins over ranked opponents as No. 3 Minnesota Duluth defeated No. 7 Colgate, No. 4 Ohio State came out victorious over No. 8 St. Lawrence and No. 11 St. Cloud State defeated No. 15 Mercyhurst. Minnesota State and St. Thomas each opened up their seasons with shutout victories. The Mavericks defeated LIU 4-0 while the Tommies won 7-0 over Post University. No. 2 Minnesota defeated Boston University in its home opener with a 1-0 decision. Abbey Murphy recorded her second-consecutive game-winning goal to give the Gophers the victory. Wisconsin moved to 3-0 on the season with a 7-1 win over Boston College on the road.

CLOUD, Minn. – No. 11 St. Cloud State Women's Hockey (3-0-0, 0-0-0 WCHA) continued its perfect start to the 2024-25 season on Friday night, beating No. 15/RV Mercyhurst 2-1, at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud thanks to a late-game goal by fifth year forward Emma Gentry (Alpena, Mich). It marks the first time in program history that a team has begun a season with a 3-0 start.
