WCHA Recap - Oct. 5

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - Saturday action in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association was highlighted by five teams earning wins as Minnesota State, No. 4 Ohio State, No. 11 St. Cloud State, St. Thomas and No. 1Wisconsin each were victorious in non-conference play. 

The Huskies recorded a 2-0 shutout over No. 15 Mercyhurst to earn their fourth-straight victory and the series sweep. The Buckeyes also earned a ranked win after defeating No. 8 St. Lawrence 5-3 on the road for the sweep. Minnesota State completed its opening weekend of action with a 4-1 win over LIU, while St. Thomas took down Post University 4-1. Both the Mavericks and Tommies went 2-0 in their season-opening weekends. The top-ranked Badgers tallied seven goals in their shutout win over Boston College to improve to 4-0 on the season.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 4/5 Ohio State women's hockey team completed its sweep of No. 8 St. Lawrence with a 5-3 win Saturday at Appleton Arena in Canton, N.Y. Graduate forward Jenna Buglioni scored the game-winning goal for the second consecutive game for the Buckeyes (4-2-0, 2-2-0 WCHA) in the win over the Saints (1-2-0, 0-0-0 ECAC).

The St. Thomas women's hockey team completed its first weekend series against the Post Eagles on Saturday evening. After a victory in game one, the Tommies (2-0-0) completed the weekend sweep with a 4-1 victory over Post (0-2-0) at home.
