The final Western Collegiate Hockey Association contest of 2024 saw Minnesota State defeat Bemidji State 5-3 in Mankato on Saturday afternoon.

MANKATO, Minn. -
The Mavericks picked up the series sweep over Bemidji State to close out the first half of the season. Jamie Nelson opened the game, scoring the first two goals to give the Mavericks the early lead before Morgan Smith put the Beavers on the board with her first of three goals on the day. The second frame saw the Mavericks Claire Vekich find the back of the net to make it 3-1 before Smith scored again to bring the Beavers within one heading into the third. Mackenzie Bourgerie scored to make it 4-2 right before Smith answered again for the Beavers recording the first hat trick of her career. With under a minute left to go, Vekich scored her second goal of the game to help the Mavericks to a 5-3 victory.
