Friday's slate in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association was highlighted by St. Thomas earning its first sweep against a nationally-ranked opponent in No. 4 Minnesota Duluth. The second-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes defeated Minnesota State while No. 3 Minnesota earned a 4-1 victory over Bemidji State.

MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. - For the second-straight contest, St. Thomas pulled off the upset over No. 4 Minnesota Duluth as the Tommies won 3-2 in an overtime thriller. Rylee Bartz put the Tommies on the board four minutes into the first frame, while teammate Chloe Boreen gave St. Thomas the 2-0 lead by scoring on the power play seven minutes into the second frame. The Bulldogs then scored three unanswered goals in the second courtesy of Mary Kate O'Brien, Clara Van Wieren and Danielle Burgen. Down one in the third, St. Thomas' Lauren Stenslie scored the equalizer for the final goal of regulation. Ella Boerger then won the game for St. Thomas in overtime. The 4-3 victory marks the first sweep of a nationally-ranked opponent for St. Thomas in program history.

COLUMBUS, Ohio. - Ohio State defeated Minnesota State 5-2 on Friday night for its sixth-straight victory. Taylor Otremba scored the first and only goal of the night for the Mavericks. The Buckeyes were quick to respond and take the lead scoring back-to-back goals in the first frame courtesy of Kiara Zanon and Sloane Matthews. Jenna Buglioni netted a goal on the power play six minutes into the second to give the Buckeyes a 3-1 lead. JuliAnna? Gazdik brought the Mavericks within one but was not enough as the Buckeyes scored two more unanswered in the third frame. Buglioni became the Ohio State program record holder in season and career game-winning goals with a winning tally in the game.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The third-ranked Minnesota Gophers defeated Bemidji State 4-1 for its fifth-straight victory on Friday afternoon inside Ridder Arena. After a scoreless first period, the Gophers' Peyton Hemp scored the first goal of the day six minutes into the second frame for the only tally of the period. Audrey Wethington extended the lead to two for the Gophers to open the third before Bemidji State's Mya Headrick responded with the first and only goal of the game for the Beavers. Minnesota's Abbey Murphy closed out the game with back-to-back goals to earn her team-leading 16th multi-point game this season. Sophomore netminder Hannah Clark stopped 17 shots to earn the win in net while Bemidji State's Eva Filippova recorded 34 saves on the day in the loss.
