Minnesota Duluth's Gascon & Wisconsin's McNaughton Selected as Semifinalists for Women's Goalie of the Year Award

Two Western Collegiate Hockey Association student-athletes are semifinalists for the Women’s Hockey Goalie of the Year Award, the Women’s Hockey Commissioners Association announced. Minnesota Duluth's Ève Gascon and Wisconsin's Ava McNaughton were selected as two of the nine goaltenders to advance from a "Watch List" of 33 netminders from four NCAA Division I conferences. 

The Women's Hockey Goalie of the Year is awarded annually to the top goaltender in NCAA women’s Division I ice hockey.

Two of the semifinalists repeat from last year in UMD's Gascon and Colgate senior Hannah Murphy. The class breakdown: two graduate students, one senior, two juniors, three sophomores and one freshman. There are four netminders from the United States, three from Canada and one each from Denmark and Sweden. 

Three finalists will be announced during the conference championships and the winner will be announced during this year’s NCAA Frozen Four in Minneapolis, MN.
