WCHA Recap - Oct. 10

Friday's action in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) saw No. 2 Ohio State, No. 3 Minnesota, and St. Thomas open up their conference slates with victories.

- St. Thomas improved to 5-0-0 for the first time in their WCHA and Division I era as the Tommies opened up their conference slate with a 2-1 overtime win against Minnesota State on the road. 
- After trading goals in the opening period, St. Thomas and Minnesota State remained scoreless until the Tommies' Teagan Kulenkamp netted the game-winning goal in overtime for the win. 
- Julia Minotti earned the win in the net for the Tommies while collecting 26 saves in the game, tying her season high. 
- Ayla Puppe scored the lone goal for the Mavericks in the loss, as she now has three on the season.

- In a top-10 matchup between No. 3 Minnesota and No. 10 St. Cloud State, the Gophers won 4-1 to improve to 5-0-0 on the season as the team is off to its best start since the 2023-24 season. 
- After a scoreless opening period, Minnesota outscored St. Cloud State 3-1 in the second and added one in the third to earn the victory. 
- Four different skaters scored in the contest for Minnesota, with Josefin Bouveng, Sara Paul, Tereza Plosova, and Abbey Murphy, who recorded her 10th goal in just five games. 
- St. Cloud State's Maria Mikaelyan recorded the lone goal for the Huskies off an assist from Raili Mustonen.

- The second-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes opened its 2025-26 conference slate with a 6-0 shutout of Bemidji State at home to improve to 3-0-0 on the season. 
- Ohio State recorded four first-period goals to set the tone and added two more in the second as five different Buckeyes scored in the game, with Jocelyn Amos scoring two and teammates Sanni Vanhanen, Sloane Matthews, Jordyn Petrie, and Sara Swiderski each scoring one. 
- Hailey MacLeod recorded her first shutout of the season and fourth career shutout as a Buckeye in the victory while collecting nine saves. 
- Bemidji State's Kaitlin Groess and Ava Hills both saw time in the net for the Beavers as Groess collected 16 saves and Hills recorded 20.
