FACEOFF FACTS
Remaining Strong: For the second consecutive week,  five WCHA teams were ranked in the Top 10 of the USCHO.com poll with No. 1 Wisconsin, No. 2 Ohio State, No. 3 Minnesota, No. 4 Minnesota Duluth, and No. 10 St. Cloud State. Both Minnesota State and St. Thomas received votes in the poll.

Icebreaker: This weekend, the top-ranked Wisconsin Badgers will take part in the 2025 Icebreaker Tournament hosted by Union. The Badgers will face RV Vermont on Friday and face either Union or Saint Anselm on Saturday.

Top 3 Showdown: Two of the top-three teams in the nation meet this weekend when No. 3 Minnesota welcomes No. 2 Ohio State to Ridder Arena as both teams remain undefeated on the season. In the last meeting between the two teams, the Gophers defeated the Buckeyes 6-2 in the WCHA Final Faceoff Semifinals.

GOLDEN TRIO: Minnesota’s trio of Abbey Murphy, Ava Lindsay, and Layla Hemp all lead the nation in separate stat categories this season. Murphy ranks first in both points (18) and goals (12), Lindsay is first in assists with 12, and Hemp is first among rookie netminders with a 1.88 goals against average.

Holy Saves: Two WCHA goaltenders recorded 50-save games last weekend in  Bemidji State’s Ava Hills and Minnesota Duluth’s Ève Gascon. In her first career start for the Beavers, Hills backstopped the team with 50 saves in the 2-1 loss to No. 2 Ohio State. The Bulldogs’ Gascon recorded her 11th  game with 40 or more stops with her 50 saves in the 4–0 loss to No. 1 Wisconsin.

UNDEFEATED: Through four weeks of action, only three teams in the WCHA remain undefeated overall on the season with Ohio State (4-0-0), Minnesota (6-0-0), and Wisconsin (6-0-0). In non-conference action this season, Minnesota, Minnesota Duluth, Minnesota State, St. Thomas, Ohio State, and Wisconsin all hold perfect records.

Badger Blueliner: Wisconsin’s Caroline Harvey leads all NCAA defenders this season in points through six games with nine, off three goals and six assists. Her six assists are tied for sixth in the NCAA amongst all skaters.

Block Party: In St. Thomas’ 2-1 overtime victory against Minnesota State, the Tommies' Cailin Mumm recorded eight blocks, marking the most of any WCHA defender in a game this season.

Shutout Season: Minnesota State’s Hailey Hansen and Wisconsin’s Ava McNaughton each picked up their third shutouts of the season in last weekend’s action, as they are both tied for first in the NCAA in total shutouts.
