WCHA Recap - Oct. 24

Friday's slate in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) was highlighted by No. 2 Ohio State and No. 3 Minnesota earning top-15 wins to move ahead in the league standings.

- St. Thomas came up just short in its Lee & Penny Anderson Arena debut after falling to RV Providence 7-6 in overtime. 
- Trailing 5-2 heading into the third period, St. Thomas rallied for four straight goals and took the lead with less than two minutes to go in the game with a go-ahead goal from Ilsa Lindaman, but Providence's Jessie Pellerin sent the game into overtime with her goal at the 19:28 mark as the Friars won it in overtime. 
- Lindaman led the Tommies with two goals in the game, while Rylee Bartz, Ella Boerger, Teagan Kulenkamp, and Whitney Horton each scored one goal.

- After a scoreless first period, No. 3 Minnesota scored three unanswered in the second period en route to a 4-0 victory over No. 4 Minnesota Duluth in the series opener.
- Ava Lindsay lit the lamp for the Gophers just 46 seconds into the second period as teammate Madison Kaiser netted one less than three minutes later before Lindsay scored her second of the period and game at the 12:30 mark.  
- Minnesota netminder Hannah Clark recorded her second shutout of the season and third of her career while collecting 24 saves in the win. 
- Minnesota Duluth's Sophia Villanueva had 16 saves in her Bulldog debut after coming in to replace Ève Gascon in the second period due to an injury.

- The second-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes defeated No. 11 St. Cloud State in the series opener with a 5-1 victory at home. 
- Brooke Disher scored her first of the season in the opening period to give the Buckeyes the lead before St. Cloud State's Maria Mikaelyan tied the game just three minutes into the second, but the Buckeyes regained the lead when Hilda Svensson converted on a penalty shot at the 7:59 mark. 
- The third period saw the Buckeyes tack on three more goals as Joy Dunne, Sloane Matthews, and Sanni Vanhanen each tacked on a goal to help Ohio State to a 5-1 win. 
- Mikaelyan, Avery Farrell, and Payton Holloway each registered a point for St. Cloud State in the loss, while Jojo Chobak recorded 35 saves for the Huskies.
