WCHA Recap - Oct. 25

Four Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) teams recorded wins in Saturday's action as No. 1 Wisconsin, No. 2 Ohio State, No. 3 Minnesota, and No. 13 St. Thomas landed in the win column.

No. 13 St. Thomas 5,  RV Providence 1  | BOX SCORE | St. Thomas Recap
- For the first time inside Lee & Penny Anderson Arena, No. 13 St. Thomas recorded a 5-1 win over RV Providence to split the series with the Friars.
-  After a scoreless first period, St. Thomas tacked on two goals in the second courtesy of Whitney Horton and Chloe Boreen; Providence netted its lone goal in the third, but the Tommies responded with three unanswered to close out the game. 
- Boreen and Rylee Bartz led the Tommies on the offensive end as each recorded one goal and one assist in the victory.

- Top-ranked Wisconsin recorded a 4-0 shutout over RV Minnesota State as the undefeated Badgers improved their win streak to 22 games, continuing a program record.
- Cassie Hall opened the scoring for Wisconsin at the 4:13 mark of the first period, recording her ninth goal in nine games this season; rookie Adéla Šapovalivová also tallied a goal in the opening period, while Claire Enright netted one in the second and Kelly Gorbatenko scored one in the final frame. 
- Hailey Hansen stopped 44 shots in the loss for Minnesota State, while teammate Lauren Goldsworthy recorded four blocks. 
- Ava McNaughton collected 25 saves in the win for the Badgers as she now leads all netminders in the NCAA with five shutouts on the season.

- In a top-five matchup between No. 3 Minnesota and No. 4 Minnesota Duluth, the Gophers defeated the Bulldogs 3-2 to earn the series sweep.
- Caitlin Kraemer put the Bulldogs on the board at the 7:55 mark in the second, but the Gophers responded with three straight goals from Josefin Bouveng and Abbey Murphy, who had two; UMD's Josie St. Martin tallied one in late the third, but the push was not enough for the Bulldogs. 
- After recording two goals in the win, Murphy moved into solo second all-time in career goals for the Gophers, passing Hannah Brandt with her 116th goal. 
- Ève? Gascon recorded 28 saves in the loss for Minnesota Duluth as the Gophers outshot the Bulldogs 39-31. 

No. 2 Ohio State 4, No. 11 St. Cloud State 2 | BOX SCORE | St. Cloud State Recap | Ohio State Recap 
- The second-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes recorded a come-from-behind win over No. 11 St. Cloud State after a four-goal third period propelled the team to victory.  
- St. Cloud State held a 2-0 lead early in the third period with goals from Maélie Pion and Julianne Labbé, but it was not enough as the Buckeyes rallied for four straight goals to end the game, including three from Joy Dunne as she earned her first hat trick of the season. 
- Hilda Svensson assisted on every Ohio State goal in the win, as this marked a career-high for the rookie and most in a game by a Buckeye since Peschel also recorded four against Bemidji State on Sept. 27, 2024.
- Pion's goal in the first period for St. Cloud State marked the first of her collegiate career; goaltender JoJo Chobak recorded a season-high 40 saves in the loss.
