Three Western Collegiate Hockey Association programs are making appearances this weekend in the 2025 NCAA Frozen Four at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis as Minnesota, Ohio State, and Wisconsin compete for the national title.
The second-seeded Ohio State Buckeyes and third-seeded Cornell meet in the first national semifinal contest at 4:00 p.m. CT on Friday, March 21, followed by top-seeded Wisconsin and fourth-seeded Minnesota facing off in the second national semifinal at 7:30 p.m. CT. Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Ohio State will compete for a chance to bring home the WCHA's 22nd national championship title on Sunday, March 23, at 3 p.m. CT.

FROZEN FOUR BOUND: For the fourth time in WCHA history, three teams are NCAA Frozen Four bound. In the Regional Finals, Wisconsin won 4-1 over Clarkson, Minnesota defeated Colgate 3-2 & Ohio State defeated St. Lawrence 6-1. All three teams will compete for the national title this weekend at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis, Cornell defeated Minnesota Duluth 1-0 to advance to the Frozen Four.
Sweet 16: Wisconsin & Minnesota are both making their 16th appearance in the NCAA Frozen Four which is the most of any program in NCAA history.
Five-in-a-Row: Ohio State will make its fifth-straight appearance in the NCAA Frozen Four and sixth overall in program history. All of the team’s Frozen Four appearances have come during head coach Nadine Muzerall’s tenure.
Red Rematch: Ohio State & Cornell will meet in the first semifinal contest on Friday marking the second meeting this season between the two teams. The Buckeyes defeated Cornell 7-3 to win the 2024 Women’s Ice Breaker Tournament on Oct. 26 in Columbus.
Border Battle VI: Wisconsin & Minnesota will meet in the second semifinal contest marking the sixth meeting between the two this season. Wisconsin has won all five matchups in regulation & most recently defeated Minnesota 4-3 in the 2025 WCHA Final faceoff.
Patty Kaz Watch List: The WCHA has the top-three 2025 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award finalists as Wisconsin’s Laila Edwards, Caroline Harvey & Casey O’Brien are up for the honor. This marks the second time (2013, University of Minnesota), that all three finalists hail from the same school.
Coach of the Year Finalists: Three WCHA head coaches are finalists for the CCM/American Hockey Coaches Association 2024-25 Division I Women’s Ice Hockey Coach of the Year Award as Minnesota’s Brad Frost, Ohio State’s Nadine Muzerall & Wisconsin’s Mark Johnson are three of the seven finalists.
100 Club: Sophomore Joy Dunne recorded her 100th career point in Ohio State’s 6-1 win over St. Lawrence in the NCAA Regional Finals.
GAMERS: In Saturday’s NCAA Regional Finals, Minnesota’s Audrey Wethington set the program record for most games played with 174 in her career. Minnesota Duluth’s Clara Van Wieren also set a program record for most games played at 174.
Murphy Magic: Minnesota’s Abbey Murphy recorded two goals in the Gophers 3-2 win over Colgate as she now sits at 33rd on the season which is the most of any skater in the NCAA.
