The best weekend in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association begins this Friday at the 2025 Kwik Trip WCHA Final Faceoff hosted by the University of Minnesota, Duluth. After winning their respective best-of-three WCHA First Round series, #1 Wisconsin, #2 Ohio State, #3 Minnesota, and #4 Minnesota Duluth have advanced to the league's premiere event.

The 2024-25 WCHA regular season champion and Julianne Bye Cup winner, Wisconsin, is the tournament’s top seed and is set to face the fourth-seeded Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs in the first semifinal game on Friday at 1 PM CT. The second semifinal matchup sees #2 Ohio State take on #3 Minnesota at 4:30 PM CT. The winner of the 2025 Kwik Trip WCHA Final Faceoff receives the league’s automatic bid into the NCAA Women’s Ice Hockey Championship.

In the Rankings: The WCHA currently has five teams in the top 12 of the USCHO poll with No. 1 Wisconsin, No. 2 Ohio State, No. 4 Minnesota, No. 6 Minnesota Duluth & No. 12 St. Cloud State.
Final Faceoff Field: After winning their respective first found series, #1 Wisconsin, #2, Ohio State, #3 Minnesota & #4 Minnesota Duluth advanced to the 2025 Kwik Trip WCHA Final Faceoff. The Badgers & Bulldogs meet in the first semifinal on Friday at 1 PM CT followed by the Buckeyes & Gophers at 4:30 PM CT. The championship is set for Saturday at 2 PM CT.
Bulldogs & Badgers: The last two contests between Wisconsin & Minnesota Duluth were both 2-1 decisions in favor of the Badgers. On Jan. 31 the Badgers’ Kirsten Simms scored the game winner with less than four seconds left in the overtime period.
Buckeyes & Gophers: Ohio State took eight points from Minnesota during the season. The two teams split the most recent series with Minnesota winning the opener 3-1 & Ohio State winning the second 7-3.
HERSTORY: Casey O’Brien surpassed the Wisconsin program record for career points as she finished the game vs. Bemidji State in the WCHA First Round Series with 265. O’Brien broke Hilary Knight’s previous record of 262.
Winning Streaks: Wisconsin (8), Ohio State (7) and Minnesota Duluth (2) enter the Final Faceoff of with win streaks of two or more games.
Murphy Magic: Abbey Murphy recorded her 99th career goal in Minnesota’s 6-2 First Round series win over Minnesota State
Game Winners: Minnesota’s Murphy, Ohio State’s Jenna Buglioni & Wisconsin’s Lacey Eden are all tied for first in the NCAA this season with their seven game-winning goals.
Hat Trick: Wisconsin’s Kirsten Simms recorded a hat trick for the second time in three games after earning one in the Badgers 11-0 win over Bemidji State in the WCHA First Round.
Big Time Netminders: Wisconsin’s Ava McNaughton (2nd; .956) & UMD’s Ève Gascon (6th; .943) enter the weekend ranked in the top six in the NCAA in save percentage.
