WCHA Recap - Sept. 19

The Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) opened up its 27th season of action with three league victories as Minnesota Duluth, Minnesota State, and St. Cloud State were victorious in their season openers.

No. 6 Minnesota Duluth 4, RV Mercyhurst 3 OT - BOX SCORE - UMD RECAP
- The Bulldogs recorded a come-from-behind overtime victory to open their 2025-26 campaign as Caitlin Kraemer netted the game-winning goal.
- Both Kraemer and Josie St. Martin recorded two points in the victory for the Bulldogs, as each tallied one goal and one assist. 
- Minnesota Duluth outshot Mercyhurst 51-18 in the victory as Ève Gascon got the win in the net for the Bulldogs with 15 saves. 

Minnesota State 3, RPI 0 - BOX SCORE - MSU RECAP
- Minnesota State won its season opener for the third-straight year with a 3-0 win over RPI. 
- Lauren Goldsworthy scored two goals in the win, while freshman Zoe Lopez tallied her first career goal with less than a minute left to play. 
- Netminder Hailey Hansen recorded 33 saves and earned the shutout for Minnesota State. 

No. 13 St. Cloud State 5, Lindenwood 0 - BOX SCORE - SCSU RECAP 
- For the second-straight year, St. Cloud State shut out Lindenwood in its season opener as the Huskies won 5-0 over the Lions
- Five different Huskies scored in the win as Alice Sauriol, Sofianna Sundelin, Marie Moran, Julianne Labbé, and Maria Mikaelyan each found the back of the net. 
- St. Cloud State Head Coach Mira Jalosuo earned her first victory at the helm of the Huskies in the win.
