WCHA Recap - Sept. 25

Minnesota and Minnesota Duluth picked up non-conference victories in Thursday's Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) action. The third-ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers defeated Boston College in their season opener, while the sixth-ranked Bulldogs earned a 4-0 shutout over Syracuse on the road.

- Minnesota Duluth extended its win streak to three games with the shutout over Syracuse, as this marks the second straight season the Bulldogs have opened with three consecutive wins.  
- Caitlin Kraemer scored just 27 seconds into the game to ultimately get the game-winning goal for the Bulldogs and added an assist on UMD's second goal for two points on the night. 
- Ève Gascon recorded her first shutout of the season and 12th of her career, while also collecting 33 saves for the Bulldogs in the victory.

- The Gophers recorded five goals in the opening period of the game while also holding the Eagles to zero shots
- Abbey Murphy led all skaters with four points in the game, off of one goal and three assists, while rookie forward Bella Fanale recorded two goals in her debut
- Minnesota improved to a 26-3-0 all-time record in season openers with the 7-1 victory over Boston College.
