The third-ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers defeated Boston College in their season opener, while the sixth-ranked Bulldogs earned a 4-0 shutout over Syracuse on the road.

- Minnesota Duluth extended its win streak to three games with the shutout over Syracuse, as this marks the second straight season the Bulldogs have opened with three consecutive wins.
- Caitlin Kraemer scored just 27 seconds into the game to ultimately get the game-winning goal for the Bulldogs and added an assist on UMD's second goal for two points on the night.
- Ève Gascon recorded her first shutout of the season and 12th of her career, while also collecting 33 saves for the Bulldogs in the victory.
