Moving on up: Six WCHA teams were again recognized in the latest USCHO.com poll, including two teams that moved up in the rankings. No. 1 Wisconsin, No. 2 Ohio State, and No. 3 Minnesota each remained, while No. 5 Minnesota Duluth moved up a spot and No. 11 St. Cloud State moved up two. St. Thomas was also receiving votes
Top-15 Road Matchups: On Friday, the second-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes will face No. 7 Colgate on the road for its season-opening series, while No. 3 Minnesota travels to No. 13 Boston University.
Conference Play Underway: Last weekend, Wisconsin faced Bemidji State in the first conference matchup of the season as the Badgers recorded the series sweep. Wisconsin recorded its 100th program win against the Beavers in game two.
Sweet Sweeps: Four squads earned series sweeps last week as Wisconsin (Bemidji State), Minnesota (Boston College), St. Thomas (Lindenwood), and Minnesota Duluth (Syracuse) each swept their respective opponents.
Hat Trick Alerts: Two WCHA skaters recorded hat trick performances last weekend as Wisconsin’s Maggie Scannell had the first of her career in the Badgers’ 9-2 win over Bemidji State. Minnesota’s Abbey Murphy recorded the third of her career in Minnesota’s 11-0 win against Boston College.
Minnesota Milestones: In the Gophers’ series sweep of Boston College last week, Murphy reached 200 career points, moving her into ninth place on Minnesota’s all-time scoring list. Teammate Josefin Bouveng recorded her 100th career point in the series.
WCHA Against The Rest: Through two weeks of action, WCHA teams have compiled a 15-1-0 record against non-conference teams. Minnesota, Minnesota Duluth, Minnesota State, and St. Thomas have not lost a game in non-conference play.
Big Time Bulldog: After recording back-to-back shutouts in UMD’s series sweep of Syracuse last weekend, junior netminder Ève Gascon is now tied for fifth all-time in career shutouts in UMD program history with Olympian Maddie Rooney.
Game-Winning Tommies: Cara Sajevic scored the game-winning goal in St. Thomas' 4-3 win over Lindenwood with less than a minute to go in the game. Game two of the series saw Keara Parker score the game-winning goal in the 2-1 victory with less than five minutes left to play.
Monthly Honors: Minnesota’s trio of Murphy, Sydney Morrow, and Bella Fanale were joined by Minnesota State’s Hailey Hansen in claiming the WCHA September Players of the Month honors.
