WCHA Recap - Feb 20

The second-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes, No. 10 Minnesota Duluth, and No. 15 Minnesota State recorded victories on the road in Friday's Western Collegiate Hockey Association action.

- The 15th-ranked Minnesota State Mavericks took the first game of the weekend against St. Thomas 5-2 behind three third-period goals.
- Taylor Otremba opened the scoring for the Mavericks 13 minutes into the first, but less than a minute later, Rylee Bartz tied it up for the Tommies, who took the lead going into the second period with a last-minute goal; Zoe Lopez scored to tie the game in the second period before the Mavericks would go on to score three third-period goals.
- Ella Boerger led the way for the Tommies with a goal and an assist; Chloe Boreen and Jenessa Gazdik also picked up assists on the afternoon; Julia Minotti made 27 saves on the afternoon.
- Mercury Bischoff had three points for the Mavericks, and Kamryn Van Batavia had a goal and an assist in the win; Hailey Hansen stopped 21 of 23 shots she faced.

No. 10 Minnesota Duluth 3, No. 3 Minnesota 2 OT  | BOX SCORE | Minnesota Recap | Minnesota Duluth Recap 
- Tova Henderson guided No. 10 Minnesota Duluth to a 3-2 overtime win against No. 3 Minnesota as the Bulldogs extended their win streak to five games.
- Minnesota's Madison Kaiser scored just over three minutes into the frist period before UMD's Zoey Krock tied the game six minutes later; Madi  Burr scored the go ahead goal for the Bulldogs early in the second frame, but Ava Lindsay responded for the Gophers scoring at the 10:30 mark of the third to send the game to overtime where UMD's Henderson scored just over three minutes in. 
- Ève Gascon made 31 saves in the game for the Bulldogs as the Gophers outshot UMD 33-32 in the game; Gascon earned her 16th win of the season
- Gopher netminder Hannah Clark recorded 29 saves in the loss; Kaiser tallied her fifth goal of the season and has a career-high 21 points on the year. 

No. 2 Ohio State 7, Bemidji State 1 | BOX SCORE | Ohio State Recap | Bemidji State Recap
- The second-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes defeated Bemidji State 7-1 on the road to open up the series against the Beavers; Ohio State is now 29-4-0 on the season and moved into first place in the league standings ahead of No.1 Wisconsin, which still has two games left. 
- Ohio State's Kaia Malachino scored the lone goal of the first period; the second frame saw Ohio State scoretwo goals in the first eight minutes before Hailey Armstrong scored the only goal of the game for the Beavers at the 9:43 mark; Sloane Matthews responded for Ohio State shortly after; Ohio State then added three in the final frame. 
- Malachino recorded her first career hat trick in the win;  Hailey MacLeod got the win in net for the Buckeyes while making 20 saves on the game. 
- Armstrong's goal marked her 15th of the season while Kaitlin Groess made 38 saves in the net for the Beavers.
