Ohio State Defeats Northeastern 5-0 to Advance to NCAA Title Game

The Ohio State Buckeyes are making their fifth straight appearance in the national title game after defeating fifth-seeded Northeastern 5-0 in the semifinals at the 2026 NCAA Women's Frozen Four on Friday at Pegula Ice Arena.

A four-goal opening period propelled Ohio State to a 5-0 victory against Northeastern in the first NCAA Frozen Four Semifinal game of the day. Joy Dunne opened the scoring for the Buckeyes just over 10 minutes into the game. At the 16:33 mark of the first period, Kaia Malachino put the Buckeyes up 2-0 before teammate Sanni Vanhanen made it a 3-0 Ohio State lead just over a minute later. Emma Peschel then joined in on the scoring as she netted one with less than a second left in the period. After a scoreless second period, Sara Swiderski scored the game's final goal two minutes into the third for the 5-0 Buckeye final. Hailey Macleod stopped all 15 shots she faced to earn the win in net for the Buckeyes. Ohio State outshot Northeastern 42-15 in the victory.
