Second Seed Ohio State Shuts Out Minnesota 4-0 to Advance to 2026 Kwik Trip WCHA Final Faceoff Championship

The second-seeded Ohio State Buckeyes shut out third-seeded Minnesota 4-0 to advance to the 2026 Kwik Trip WCHA Final Faceoff Championship. This marks the first time since 2024 that Ohio State has advanced to the Final Faceoff Championship and the sixth time in program history.

-Sloane Matthews scored on the power play just over seven minutes into the first period to put Ohio State on the board early. The second period saw Kaia Malachino net one at the 10:58 mark to give the Buckeyes a 2-0 lead heading into the third. Jocelyn Amos scored the Buckeyes' third goal of the game just under seven minutes into the final frame, while Matthews tallied her second power play goal of the game with less than 20 seconds left. Hailey MacLeod recorded the shutout after stopping all 22 shots she faced in the win.

The second-seeded Ohio State Buckeyes will face top-seeded Wisconsin on Saturday, March 7th at 2:02 p.m. CT in the 2026 Kwik Trip WCHA Final Faceoff Championship game. The last time the two teams met in the Final Faceoff Championship was in 2024, when the Badgers defeated the Buckeyes 6-3.
