St. Cloud State, St. Thomas & Wisconsin Claim WCHA Weekly Honors

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Western Collegiate Hockey Association announced its weekly awards on Monday as Wisconsin's duo of Casey O'Brien and Caroline Harvey joined St. Cloud State's Emilia Kyrkkö, and St. Thomas' Chloe Boreen in claiming honors. 



WCHA Forward of the Week
Casey O'Brien, Sr., Wisconsin (Milton, Mass.)
O'Brien helped Wisconsin to its second-straight series sweep as the Badgers defeated Boston College on the road. O'Brien led all WCHA skaters with seven points on the weekend after totaling three goals and four assists. In Friday's 7-1 win, the senior forward posted two goals one of which was a game-winner and added two assists. She followed with a one-goal, two-assist performance in Saturday's 7-0 shutout victory.

WCHA Defender of the Week
Caroline Harvey, Jr., Wisconsin (Salem, N.H.)

After tallying two goals and one assist in Wisconsin's sweep of Boston College, Harvey claimed her second-straight WCHA Defender of the Week honor. Harvey recorded a goal in the Badgers' 7-1 win on Friday before adding a goal and an assist in the 7-0 victory on Saturday. The Salem, New Hampshire native led all WCHA defenders on the weekend with three points on the weekend.

WCHA Goaltender of the Week
Emilia Kyrkkö, Fr., St. Cloud State (Nokia, Finland)

Kyrkkö earned a shutout win in her collegiate debut as St. Cloud State defeated No. 15 Mercyhurst 2-0 to complete the series sweep. The freshman saved all 21 shots she faced in the victory to help lead the Huskies to their best start in program history at 4-0.

WCHA Rookie of the Week
Chloe Boreen, F, St. Thomas (Somerset, Wis.)

In the season opener for St. Thomas, Boreen recorded her first collegiate goal while also adding an assist for two points as the Tommies defeated Post University 7-0. The rookie followed with one assist in Saturday's 4-1 victory to help St. Thomas earn the series sweep.
