Former Bulldog Named to IIHF Hall of Fame Class of 2025

Full IIHF Release

Former Western Collegiate Hockey Association standout Minnesota Duluth's Kim Martin-Hasson is set to be inducted into the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Hall of Fame Class of 2025. Martin-Hasson was one of six new inductees, announced Friday by the organization.

The IIHF Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on medal day at the 2025 Men’s World Championship in Stockholm, Sweden.

Last year, Martin-Hasson was named to WCHA's 25th Anniversary Top 25 Team after a stellar career with the Bulldogs. Martin Hasson helped the Bulldogs pull off a NCAA runner-up finish in 2007 before backstopping UMD to a home NCAA title in 2008 with a 4-0 shutout over Wisconsin as a sophomore. For her heroic sophomore efforts, Martin-Hasson was a Patty Kaz Top-3 Finalist, a First Team All-American and First Team All-WCHA selection, and owned a 31-4-1 record. Martin-Hasson was named the WCHA Goaltending Champion in 2010-11 and was also a member of the 2006-07 WCHA All-Rookie Team. In all, Martin-Hasson earned All-WCHA accolades all four of her collegiate seasons.

Martin-Hasson started her career with the national team at age 15, playing at the Women’s World Championship in Minneapolis. Over the next 13 years she was the de facto number-one goalie on the team, playing at eight Women’s Worlds and four Olympics. Martin-Hasson backstopped Sweden’s two greatest teams. In 2006, she led Damkronor to the biggest upset in women’s hockey history, a 3-2 shootout win over the United States in the semi-finals of the 2006 Olympics. Not surprisingly, she was named IIHF Directorate Best Goalie of the tournament. Four years earlier, she had helped Sweden win bronze at Salt Lake, defeating Finland, 2-1, in the game for third place. Finland had won all previous bronze medals, except 2001, and Sweden’s program had been in disarray. Martin-Hasson helped rejuvenate the program almost overnight.
