2025 IIHF Women's World Championship Recap - Finals

CESKE BUDEJOVICE, Czechia – A total of 34 skaters with Western Collegiate Hockey Association ties medalled on the final day of the 2025 IIHF Women's World Championship.

RECAPS & BOX SCORES 
USA 4, CANADA 3 OT - FULL RECAP | BOX SCORE
- After a scoreless first period, Wisconsin's Caroline Harvey gave Team USA the 1-0 lead in the second as captain and former Badger Hilary Knight earned an assist on the play.
- Less than a minute later, Minnesota's Abbey Murphy gave Team USA the 2-0 lead while former Golden Gopher Lee Stecklein recorded an assist on the goal. 
- Team Canada rallied for back-to-back goals of their own, including one from former Ohio State Buckeye Jenn Gardiner. 
- The third period saw former WCHA Player of the Year and Golden Gopher Taylor Heise give Team USA the 3-2 lead as  Murphy and Wisconsin's Laila Edwards each tallied a helper. 
- Team Canada scored the equalizer late in the third while former Badger Emily Clark was awarded her second assist of the game. 
- Minnesota's Heise recorded a helper on the overtime game winner to help Team USA claim the gold. 
- Former Badger netminder Ann-Renée Desbiens collected 26 saves for Canada despite the loss. 

FINLAND 4, CZECHIA 3 - FULL RECAP | BOX SCORE
- After trailing 3-0 midway through the 2025 Women’s World Championship bronze medal game, Finland rallied for a 4-3 comeback victory over Team Czechia. 
- Former St. Cloud State skater Jenniina Nylund scored a goal off an assist from future Ohio State Buckeye Sanni Vanhanen, who had two assists in the win for Finland.
- Nelli Laitinen also contributed to Team Finland's victory with her two assists. 
- St. Cloud State netminder Sanni Ahola had 25 saves in the win for Team Finland. 
- Minnesota's Natalie Mlynkova continued her dominance for Czechia at the event despite the loss as she recorded the game's second goal and added an assist. 
- Former Minnesota Duluth Bulldog Katerina Mrazova also had a helper for Team Czechia in the loss.
