WCHA Weekly Preview - Week 15

Another weekend of conference play awaits in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association as all eight teams return to action. Two top-15 matchups are on the weekend slate as No. 8 Minnesota Duluth hosts No. 15 St. Cloud State and No. 2 Ohio State travels to No. 14 Minnesota State.

Fans can purchase all-session tickets for the 2026 Kwik Trip WCHA Final Faceoff today at the link HEREAnnually featuring a collection of the nation's highest-ranked programs and best players, the WCHA's four remaining teams will compete for the league's playoff championship and an automatic berth in the 2026 NCAA tournament. The league's premier event begins on Thursday, March 5, with two semifinal matchups at 4 PM CT and 7:30 PM CT, with the championship final taking place on Saturday, March 7, at 2 PM CT.

Big Ten Network Matchups: The Big Ten Network will air a rematch of last year's NCAA title game as Wisconsin hosts Ohio State on Feb. 7 at 3 PM CT.

FACEOFF FACTS
Fine Nine: For the ninth-straight week, six of the eight WCHA squads were ranked in the top-15 of the USCHO poll with No. 1 Wisconsin, No. 2 Ohio State, No. 3 Minnesota, No. 8 Minnesota Duluth, No. 14 Minnesota State, and No. 15 St. Cloud State. St. Thomas recieved votes in the latest poll. 

Top-15 Showdowns: This upcoming weekend of conference action sees two top-15 matchups with No. 14 Minnesota State hosting No. 2 Ohio State and No. 8 Minnesota Duluth welcoming No. 15 St. Cloud State to Duluth. 

Big Time Bulldogs: Last weekend, No. 8 Minnesota Duluth and No. 1 Wisconsin battled to a 1-1 draw in Duluth, where the Bulldogs earned the extra point in the WCHA standings with the shootout win. 

Tommie Time: Rylee Bartz recorded her third game-winning goal of the season in St. Thomas' 2-1 victory against Bemidji State last Friday as she netted the winner with less than a minute to go in the game. 

100 Club: Ohio State's Jocelyn Amos reached the 100-point mark of her career after assisting on a Buckeye goal in Ohio State's 4-0 victory against St. Cloud State last Friday. 

HOT STREAKS: Minnesota's Josefin Bouveng extended her nation-leading point streak to 21 games as she recorded an assist in the Gophers' 4-3 victory last Saturday against Minnesota State. Wisconsin's Caroline Harvey brought her point-streak to 19-straight games, scoring a goal and an assist in the Badgers' 5-1 victory against Minnesota Duluth on Saturday. 

Milano Cortina Bound: As the United States, Finland, Czechia, Switzerland, Canada, Germany, and Sweden have announced their rosters for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina, the WCHA has 54 representitves including 21 current student-athletes, set to compete for their respective countries. Wisconsin and Ohio State lead the way in current player representatives with five each, followed by Minnesota and St. Cloud State with four each and Minnesota Duluth with three. 

Point Still Proven: The WCHA is currently home to seven of the top-10 point scorers in the NCAA this season with Minnesota's Abbey Murphy leading the way at 50 points followed by Wisconsin's Harvey (44), Ohio State's Hilda Svensson (38), Wisconsin's Lacey Eden (38), and Kirsten Simms (36), Ohio State's Joy Dunne (35) and Minnesota's Josefin Bouveng in eighth with 33 points. 

Apple Dealers: Eight of the top-10 assist leaders in the NCAA belong to the WCHA, as Harvey leads all skaters with 31, followed by Eden (25), Svensson (24), Murphy (22), Bouveng (22), Wisconsin's Laila Edwards (22), Simms (21), and Minnesota's Ava Lindsay (21)

Battling Badger: Wisconsin's McNaughton currently leads all goaltenders in the NCAA this season with her 1.24 goals against average, is tied for second in the NCAA with six shutouts, and ranks third with her .943 save percentage.
