After a trio of sweeps and a top-three series split, players from four different teams pick up WCHA Player of the Week honors, presented by OS Hockey.
WCHA Forward of the Week
Sarah Paul, Grad., Minnesota (West Kelowna, British Columbia)
In the series split against No. 1 Ohio State, Sarah Paul recorded two multi-point games with four points by two goals and two assists. Paul first tallied two assists in Friday's 6-2 victory, before scoring twice in Saturday's 6-5 loss. Paul's first goal came in the final second of the second period to tie the game at 4-4, before opening the third with another tally for a Gopher 5-4 lead. On the weekend, Paul recorded 11 shots on goal and skated to a plus-3 rating on the ice and now holds three multi-point games on the year. The WCHA Forward of the Week honor is the first of Paul's career.
Other Nominees: Joy Dunne (Ohio State), Caitlin Kraemer (Minnesota Duluth), and Rosalie Tremblay (Wisconsin).
WCHA Defender of the Week
Mira Jungåker, Jr., Ohio State (Jönköping, Sweden)
Blueliner Mira Jungåker led the Buckeyes with five points on the weekend by a goal and four assists in the series split at then-No. 3 Minnesota. Jungåker recorded assists on two of the team's three power play goals of the weekend and was on the ice for the fourth, contributing to the special teams strength. She tallied a career-high tying four points in the game two win over the Gophers by scoring the opening goal and adding a trio of assists to claim her third consecutive WCHA Defender of the Week title of the season.
Other Nominees: Siiri Yrjölä (St. Cloud State), Chloe Primerano (Minnesota), and Laney Potter (Wisconsin).
WCHA Goaltender of the Week
Ève Gascon, Sr., Minnesota Duluth (Mascouche, Quebec)
After stepping off a plane from Team Canada camp on Thursday, netminder Ève Gascon quickly returned to secure two shutouts for Minnesota Duluth, while her play at Bemidji State led to her second series shutout of the season. On Friday night, Gascon became Minnesota Duluth's all-time career shutout leader with her 24th career shutout behind 24 saves, before she upped it to 25 on Saturday with another 18 stops. Gascon was the only WCHA goaltender to play two games on the weekend and earn two shutouts behind a 0.00 goals against average and 1.000 save percentage after stopping all 42 shots faced. Gascon continues to lead the NCAA with her four shutouts so far this season, while the award marks her second WCHA Goaltender of the Week title of the season (Sept. 28).
Other Nominees: Emilia Kyrkkö (St. Cloud State), Hannah Clark (Minnesota), and Ava McNaughton (Wisconsin).
WCHA Rookie of the Week
Rosalie Tremblay, Forward, Wisconsin (Sherbrooke, Quebec)
Wisconsin rookie Rosalie Tremblay enjoyed an exciting series against then-RV/No. 15 Minnesota State after taking a series off to participate in Canada's National Women's Team Training Camp. All five of Tremblay's points came in Saturday's 12-1 victory as she posted four goals and an assist for a five-point performance. Tremblay became just the third freshman in program history to tally a four-goal game, while on the weekend, she totaled 13 shots on goal and five blocked shots while skating to a plus-5 rating on the ice. The WCHA Rookie of the Week award marks the first league honor of Tremblay's career.
