Minnesota Dominates St. Cloud State to Close Out First Half

The Gophers’ head into the winter break following a 9-0 road victory over St. Cloud State.

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The No. 4/6 Golden Gopher women's hockey team put the cherry on top of a successful first half of the 2022-23 season with its fourth consecutive victory after a 9-0 win over No. 14 St. Cloud State at Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn.
 
It took 18:53 into the first period for Minnesota (14-3-2) to find the back of the net as Freshman defender Allie Franco provided the ice breaker with her first career goal. The Gophers added five goals in the second period for the second straight game to put things out of reach. Taylor Heise added a pair of goals and was joined by Josefin Bouveng, Ella Huber and Abigail Boreen on the scoresheet in the period. Grace Zumwinkle scored her fourth goal of the series in the third period Heise completed her third-career hat trick. Boreen scored her seventh goal in the last four games to close out the contest.



Sophomore Skylar Vetter made 15 saves to earn her third consecutive shutout to complete the first half of the season with a 12-3-2 record. St. Cloud State's Jojo Chobak made 35 saves in the defeat.

Heise with the hat trick, Vetter with back-to-back shutouts this weekend, Boreen with her 50th career goal and Allie Franco with her first. Everybody stepped up and contributed to a great game."

•    Taylor Heise set a new career high with nine points (3g-6a) in this weekend's series.
•    Freshman Allie Franco set a new career-high with three points (1g-2a) in today's victory.
•    Sophomore goaltender Skylar Vetter has not allowed a goal in the last 232:53 minutes of game action.
•    Emily Oden set a new career-high with three assists.
