WCHA Announces 2022-23 League Composite Schedule

Ohio State and Minnesota State Open the League's 112-Game Slate Weekend of Sept. 30-Oct. 2

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Western Collegiate Hockey Association unveiled its composite league schedule for the 2022-23 season, a slate featuring 112 league games as each program competes in a 28-game WCHA campaign this season.

The 2022-23 composite schedule outlines weekend dates and opponents for each of the league’s eight member institutions. Exact game days and times of each two-game series will be determined by the host institution, with online schedule pages being updated accordingly. Full schedules including nonconference matchups will be released at a later date.
 
The 24th season of the top league in women’s college hockey culminates with the eight-team 2023 WCHA postseason tournament, with the league’s four quarterfinal winners advancing to the Final Faceoff on March 3-4.
 
The WCHA league schedule features 28 games in 2022-23 as all eight programs play in two, two-game series (one home, one away) against each of the other seven member institutions. While the weekends are assigned, teams may opt to play Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, or for an agreed upon home-and-home series.
 
With the weekend of Sept. 23-25 reserved for nonconference competition, the chase for the Julianne Bye Cup opens on the weekend of Sept. 30 – Oct. 2 as Ohio State travels to Minnesota State for the first series of the WCHA season.
 
Defending NCAA and WCHA Champion Ohio State and 2021-22 WCHA Regular Season Champion Minnesota meet in Columbus on Oct. 28-30 and in Minneapolis Feb. 3-5, while the annual Border Battle between WCHA heavyweights Minnesota and Wisconsin will be contested in Madison Nov. 18-20 and on Feb. 10-12 in Minneapolis.
 
The regular season concludes Feb. 17-19 with Minnesota Duluth at Bemidji State, Minnesota at St. Thomas, Minnesota State at St. Cloud State, and Ohio State at Wisconsin. 18 weekends will see at least one WCHA series played, while 10 feature a full allotment of four league series.
 
2023 WCHA Postseason Tournament
All eight league teams advance to the 2023 WCHA Postseason Tournament, with seeding set by their finish in the WCHA standings. The top four seeds each host a best-of-three quarterfinal series the weekend of Feb. 24-26, with the four winners advancing to meet at the WCHA Final Faceoff on March 3-4.
