Mankato, Minn. --- Minnesota State completed a sweep over #14 St. Cloud State with a 4-1 victory Saturday afternoon at the Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center. The win marked the third straight series sweep for Minnesota State.
The sweep also marked the first sweep for the Mavericks over a ranked team since it swept then #7 Minnesota, 3-2 and 4-3, in January of 2007 in Mankato.
The six-game winning streak is the longest by a Maverick team since the 2006-07 season. That year, Minnesota State rattled over seven straight wins, culminating with that sweep over Minnesota.
The Mavericks cracked the scoreboard first at the 7:36 mark of the first period as senior
Taylor Wemple notched her first goal of the season. Junior
Sydney Langseth registered the assist on the goal.
The Mavericks scored their second goal a short time later as senior
Kennedy Bobyck scored her fourth goal of the season. Langseth and senior
Claire Butorac each assisted on the play.
The Huskies cut the score in half at the 17:09 when Avery Meyers scored an unassisted goal.
After a scoreless second period, the line of Langseth, Bobyck and Butorac added another goal, this time as Langseth picked up her third point of the afternoon as she scored her sixth goal of the season at 2:38 of the third.

Madison Mashuga found the back of the net as she converted a pass from freshman
Taylor Otremba to conclude the scoring for the afternoon
. The goal marked the sixth of the season for Mashuga.
Senior goaltender
Alexa Berg stopped 17 shots in the win.
Minnesota State (13-11-0, 8-11-0 WCHA) opens a four-game road trip as it travels to Wisconsin to take on the Badgers next Friday and Saturday. Friday's opening game is slated to begin at 5 p.m.
